Can you briefly discuss your background and current position?
After my medical state examination, I worked at a dermatology clinic for six years to get my specialist medical training. After that, I worked several years in my own clinic before joining my mother’s cosmetic business in 1989 as a managing director. Already during my studies, I taught lessons at the vocational school for aestheticians founded by mother. This allowed me to already get insights into diverse areas of the company and made it easier for me to enter the business.
Since 2013, I’m sharing the business management with my son Alexander Drusio. While I’m responsible for research and development of our products/ skin care lines as well as leading the professional school for dermatological cosmetics and the international advanced training center, my son is taking care of the operative business
As a dermatologist, what inspired you to get involved in developing a skincare line and treatments?
During my time at the clinic and my practical experience, I was many times confronted with skin problems as well as the patients’ questions how they could manage these in the long-term. This strengthened my desire to connect dermatology with cosmetics. It was my aim to develop care products in a new dimension that are suited for improving skin health. Only if the aesthetician and end consumer work hand in hand, meaning the treatment in the cabin and home care are coordinated, it is possible to achieve good and, above all, long-term care results.
Reference is made to holistic cosmetics – can you discuss what this means?
Holistic cosmetics considers the whole person. In this case, it’s not just the current skin appearance that is reviewed, but also includes life circumstances, eating and care habits to get a comprehensive picture. Especially with sensitive skin, there are diverse aspects that need to be considered: is there a genetic disposition or has the skin lost its balance due to improper care or medication? Then a personal care concept needs to be developed according to every individual.
The GREEN PEEL® herbal peeling has achieved world-wide success as one of the most effective all-natural peeling systems. Can you explain why herbs are so well-suited for peeling and, more specifically, how this treatment is able to solve skin problems with such impressive results?
Herbs have a long tradition in cosmetics. Already in the Middle Ages, the healing power of marigold for eczema was discovered. For many years, my mother dealt and experimented with the history of plants and herbs as well as their effects in cosmetics. This is how today’s GREEN PEEL® Herbal Peeling Treatment was formed. With the help of many half-side tests conducted in cooperation with Prof. Choranzak, she was able to prove the effects.
The combination of diverse plants and herbs and their interaction result in the desired treatment success of the GREEN PEEL ® Herbal Peeling.
“Dermatology meets Cosmetics” is the basic philosophy of the Dr. Schrammek derma.cosmetics skincare series. Can you elaborate?
The care series derma.cosmetics includes my extensive dermatological knowledge as well as latest research findings in dermatology. Proven, tested ingredients in combination with new, highly efficient active substances in cosmetics result in high-end care lines targeted at specific skin problems, such as impure or sensitive skin.
You refer to the “BB Cream” Blemish Balm as a true innovation within the range. Can you explain why?
Blemish Balm reflects our philosophy: proven dermatological ingredients that effectively counteract impurities – combined with color particles which allows the product to be used as make-up. This was extremely innovative 50 years ago and is still today. There are many make-ups and also concealers, but Blemish Balm can do more. It has, at the same time, anti-microbial and anti-inflammatory effects, calms reddened skin and protects against environmental influences. It’s also well suited for small burns, insect bites or cold sores. In summary: an all-round talent.
